Luray Middle School ‘s Maya Jenkins won the 800 meters and the 1600 meters at the Bull Run District Middle School Track and Field Championships held May 5 at Strasburg High School. The seventh grader also set two new individual school records with a time of 2:43.16 in the 800 meters and a time of 6:01.30 in the 1600 meters.
Jenkins was also a member of the 4×400 relay team that captured second place at the district meet, along with Briana Plum, Carolina Wood and Emily Benson. The relay team set another school record with a time of 5:04.28.
The LMS girls’ track and field team placed second overall in the district.
