LURAY, Oct. 26 — Luray High School sophomore Davey Johnson had a record-setting day that earned him a Bull Run District cross country title last week at Chrisman Field.
One month after becoming No. 2 on the all-time lists for best boys cross country times at LHS and at Chrisman Field, Johnson broke both records with a time 16:30.49 in the Bull Run championships on Oct. 26. The sophomore finished more than a minute ahead of second-place finisher Aidan Griffin of Madison County (17:36.52) to claim the boys district title.
Johnson blew away the previous school record of 17:04 (W. Sutphin) and narrowly surpassed the previous course record of 16:34 set by a Warren County runner (O’Reilly).
The Region B cross country meets takes place Wednesday, Nov. 2 at Central of Woodstock.
