Luray High School freshman Davey Johnson finished seventh overall in the 1,000 meters at the Class 1/ Class 2 Indoor Track and Field meet at Liberty University on Thursday, March 3. The seventh-place finish earned Johnson All-State honors as a freshman. He posted his season-best time of 2:48.21, which also set a new LHS winter/indoor track record. The old record of 2:51.01 was set in 2018.
Johnson was also joined by Josh Nuckols, Jacob Bowman and Austin Lam in the 4×800 relay event at the state indoor track meet. The Bulldog relay team finished in ninth place — just out of medal reach — with a time of 2:51.57, also a new LHS record. The group of two freshmen and two sophomores missed medaling at the state meet (eighth place) by only four one-hundredths of a second.
