NEW MARKET, Oct. 25 — Luray High School’s Davey Johnson won his second consecutive Bull Run District title in cross country with a time of 17:46.6 in the 5,000-meter race last Wednesday at the New Market Battlefield course.
Johnson finished third in the district championship as a freshman two years ago, and then won last year’s Bull Run title as a sophomore while setting a new course record at Luray’s Chrisman Field. Johnson will be competing alongside two other Bulldogs at the Region 2B cross country championships hosted by Luray at Chrisman Field on Wednesday, Nov. 1.
Junior Wyatt Seal (19:16.3) finished fifth at the district meet, while junior Jacob Bowman (20:42.8) finished 22nd among the 47 competitors in the event. While Johnson and Seal both earned All-District honors, Bowman also qualified for the Region 2B meet.
Page County High School sophomores Aaron Hensley (19:32.7) and Asher Kite (19:59.7) finished sixth and 13th, respectively, at the Bull Run cross country meet last week. Both earned All-District honors and will compete in the region meet on Wednesday. Page County finished third in the team standings for the boys division, while Luray was fifth.
In the girls district championship, Page County senior Summer Kite finished fifth among 42 runners with a time of 23:47.3. Luray sophomore Carolina Wood (25:35.9) finished 13th. Both earned All-District honors. Also qualifying for the region meet as individuals were Page’s Maryn Cave (16th, 25:43) and August Beatty (17th, 25:45.10).
