• 5-9 p.m. — Downtown Get Down, Hawksbill Greenway, Luray, “food, tunes and booms,” live music on multiple stages, wide variety of food vendors, children’s activities, inflatable bounce houses and the largest fireworks display in the region.

• 6 p.m. — “Party on the Plaza”, featuring Dwight Martin, hosted by Performing Arts of Luray, at the Rebecca J. Graves Regional Center for the Performing Arts, Main Street, Luray.

• 8:30 – 10:30 p.m.4th of July Big Bang Bluegrass Bash, opening with Luray’s John W. Lee, followed by Duncan & Mabe of Winchester, Main Street Flavors, 40 East Main Street across from the pink theater; suggested donation $10, but no one will be turned away; partial proceeds will benefit Every Child Early Learning Center in Luray; concert sponsored by Admiralty Consulting, LLC and Main Street Flavors.

The story is of Mary, a young woman who, after leaving her abusive mother, eventually ends up with a mountain family in Elkton. There, she is healed and empowered, but faces adversity when the federal government begins removing families from their homes in order to create Shenandoah National Park.
