Age 86, Shenandoah, Va.
Laura Rose Rosson Rosazza, age 86, of Shenandoah, Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on October 14, 1940, in Shenandoah to the late Evelyn A. Rosson and Ashby D. Rosson, she lived a life defined by her warmth, grace, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. At the heart of her life was a deep, abiding love for the Lord, which served as the foundation for her home and guided her family in all things. Her great faith and devotion were evident to all who knew her, and her inherent goodness shone through in every action she took.
She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Thomas “Ikey” Rosazza, and they shared 65 wonderful years, building a marriage that served as a beautiful example of commitment and partnership. Together, they treasured their extensive travels, exploring the world side by side, and spending time with her family.
For 32 years, she served as a dedicated band teacher at Springfield, Stanley, and Grove Hill Elementaries. Her passion for music was matched only by her commitment to her students, and she took immense pride in shaping young lives through the joy of melody and rhythm. Beyond the classroom, her faith and love for music were beautifully intertwined; she served her church community as a pianist for over 40 years, sharing her talent with grace and humility.
In all aspects of her life, she shied away from the spotlight. She never sought applause or recognition for her efforts; instead, she worked tirelessly and quietly to care for her loved ones. Her greatest joy was the selfless support she gave her family, always putting their needs before her own.
Above all, she was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found joy in life’s simple moments, especially sharing her famous homemade cinnamon buns with those she loved, and she eagerly looked forward to an upcoming family trip to Pigeon Forge. Her kindness and devotion will live on in the lives she touched, and her quiet, steady presence will remain forever in her family’s hearts.
She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas “Ikey” Rosazza; her children, Lisa Rosazza and Tracey Shuler; her beloved grandchildren, Zachary Clark, Abigail Clark, Jenna Shuler and Corey Shuler; her adored great-grandchildren, Emma Turner, Colt Turner and Oakley Turner; her sisters Sarah R. “Beck” Wigent and husband Don of Florida, Sandra F. Burkholder of Georgia, and brother Robert A. “Bob” Rosson and wife Jane of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn Alexander Rosson and Ashby Rosson, and brothers Conrad L. “Connie” and Edward A. “Eb” Rosson.
A memorial service will be held on November 7, 2026, at the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Elkton, Virginia. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by a service at 3 p.m.
In place of flowers, the family requests donations to the Page County High School Band Department. Make checks payable to Page County High School Band, with “Laura Rosazza” in the memo.
Her journey was one of quiet beauty, and though she is no longer with us, her spirit remains vibrant in those she loved. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and devotion—one that will continue to grow and flourish in the lives of everyone she touched.
Arrangements are being handled by the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, Va.
