Lora Lee McAlister, 57, of Luray, passed away at her home on August 6, 2026.
She was born on October 8, 1968, in Charlottesville and was the daughter of Darwin and Mary Beahm of Luray.
Lora is survived by her husband, William “Billy” McAlister, whom she married on November 24, 2012.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Dakota Butler and husband Samuel, and Cheyenne Willyard and husband Nathan of Kentucky; and one granddaughter, Paisley (LouLiz) Lemarie.
Lora is also survived by a sister, Venus Turner; a brother, Ricky Duncan; two nephews, Nick and Dylan; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elizabeth and Julian Brubaker and Mildred and Roscoe Beahm Sr.
Lora was a talented, creative and hardworking woman, who was well known throughout her community. Over the years, she successfully owned and operated several businesses, including a candle business, a cleaning business and the QVS Pizza and Sub Shop. Her creativity carried into everything she did, and in later years she taught herself the art of quilting. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Lora had a remarkable ability to turn her talents and interests into something meaningful. She was deeply loved by her family and friends, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, at the Morning Star Lutheran Church in Luray by Pastor Ryan Viands. Burial will be in the Morning Star Cemetery.
The family extends special thanks to the Luray Volunteer Rescue Squad and to the Page County Sheriff’s Office for all they did.
