Age 96, Rileyville, Va.
Louise Elizabeth Judd Vaughn, 96, went home to the Lord on July 12, 2026.
She was born on August 19, 1929, in Rileyville, VA and was the daughter of the late Samuel Henry Judd and Mamie Jenkins Judd.
Louise retired from Leggett Department Store after 37 years. In her retirement, she enjoyed watching birds from her living room window, Western movies, taking bus trips, reading, and the companionship of her beloved cats — especially her two favorites “Bad Cat” and Toby. Louise loved being a Grandma and cherished time spent with all of her grandchildren. Louise was a member of Rileyville Baptist Church.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, John “Lewis” Judd, Elsie Riley, Leslie “Lester” Judd, Emmett Judd, Virgil Judd and Zada Miller; her son-in-law, Gregory Gochenour; and her grandchildren, Teresa Frye and Travis Connelly.
Louise is survived by her children, Melody Frazier and husband Ron of Culpeper, VA, Steve Vaughn and wife Carolyn of Luray, VA, and Carolyn Gochenour of Luray, VA; her grandchildren, Laura Pultz (Robbie), Melody Whorton, Stephanie Smith (Daniel), Angie Carrico (Jack), Elisabeth Alger (Ken), Daniel Gochenour (Sam), and Ashley Lester (Cody); her bonus grandchildren, Chasity Housden (Robbie), Steve Gray, Christie Donovan (Derek), and Nathan Beahm; her great-grandchildren, Morgan Shifflett (Dillan), Ashlyn Connelly, Aunna, Madelyn and Henry Wilcken, Teresa, Donald and Joseph Whorton, Giorgia Georgiades, Dylan Smith, Jacob, Olivia and Eli Carrico, Mirabelle and Harrison Alger, Darcy, Nora and Hudson Gochenour, Elliot and Coen Lester; and her great-great-grandchild, Leighton Shifflett.
A memorial service will be held in honor of her birthday week on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Rileyville Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. prior to the service.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Hawksbill Assisted Living staff for their care and patience.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Page County SPCA or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
