February 24, 1966 — A turn-around jump shot by Charlie Campbell with but four seconds left in the game gave the Luray Bulldogs a hard- earned 61-59 win over the tough Warren County Wildcats in a game played at the local gym on Friday night.
Only 10 days ago the Wildcats had trounced Luray 66- 46.
Luray jumped off to a 14-9 lead at the end of the first period and had increased it to 25-12 midway in the second period. Warren went into a full court press and cut the margin to 27-26 at the half. Warren went into a lead of 42-39 at the end of three quarters, but the Bulldogs fought back to pick up the win.
Luray got balanced scoring from Charles Campbell with 13 points, Tommy Campbell and Butch Carter hit for 12 and Tommy Nichols with 10 points.
