September grand jury session issues 13 indictments against 10 individuals

LURAY, Sept. 3 — Members of a grand jury in Page County Circuit Court issued a true bill on a total of 13 indictments handed down Wednesday, Sept. 3 on charges placed among 10 individuals.

Those indicted by the Sept. 3 grand jury include:

Jesse William Weakley Jr., of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 6 felony for strangulation. The offense occurred on July 5, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest on July 21, 2025. Weakley is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025 for a hearing.

George Franklin Campbell, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 6 felony for a Tier III sex offender registration violation. The offense occurred on July 18, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest on July 28, 2025. Campbell is scheduled to appear in in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025 for a hearing.

Steven Clark Kornicker II, of Rileyville, Va. was indicted on two Class 5 felonies for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offenses occurred on April 9, 2025 and May 24, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest for both on July 23, 2025. Kornicker is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025 for a hearing.

Sharon Leigh Smith, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on two Class 5 felonies for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The first offense and an arrest occurred on June 13, 2025, according to court records. The second offense occurred on July 6, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest on July 7, 2025. Smith is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025, for a hearing.

Daniel Joseph Zirkle, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 6 felony for unauthorized use of a vehicle (larceny greater than $200) and a Class 2 misdemeanor for eluding or disregarding police. Both offenses and an arrest occurred on June 10, 2025, according to court records. Zirkle is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025 for a hearing.

Bessie Nichole Gayheart, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on May 27, 2025, according to court records. Gayheart is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025 for a hearing.

• Kevin Thomas Harvey, of Tom’s River, N.J., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on April 5, 2025, according to court records. Harvey is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025 for a hearing.

• Kristine Renee Purdham, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on July 5, 2025, according to court records. Purdham is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025 for a hearing.

• James Lee Shrader, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Feb. 21, 2025, according to court records, with an arrest on May 17, 2025. Shrader is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025 for a hearing.

• James Allen Williams, of Front Royal, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on June 21, 2025, according to court records. Williams is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2025 for a hearing.

Grand jury hearings are held the first Wednesday of each month in Page County Circuit Court.
