Age 61, Luray, Va.
Lynda L. Minke , 61, passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 4, 2022 at her Luray home with her family by her side. She was born March 8, 1961 in Roanoke Rapids, NC to Marjorie “Faye” Harrell and Lonza Henderson Lewis.
Lynda married Thomas D. “Tom” Minke on February 15, 1991. They were blessed to have been able to share a wonderful life together and experience true, unconditional love.
She was a member of Mt. Zion Church of the Brethren in Luray, VA and had a strong relationship with the Lord.
Lynda was a beautiful person inside and out. Her love, kindness and compassion for family and others was a true virtue. She was born into humble beginnings but had a very loving and supportive family. Her maternal grandmother and various maternal aunts and uncles ensured she grew up with high self-esteem and great intellect. Her character and integrity was paramount.
Lynda was an avid reader and enjoyed any game or task that exercised her mind. She was exceptional at bookkeeping, accounting, office management and critical thinking. She relished being part of a team. No matter what the challenge or request, Lynda ensured that she exceeded all expectations for herself and others.
Lynda is survived by her husband; her son William “Christopher” Lanier (Amanda) and daughter, Constance E. Minke; her grandchildren Christopher “Dillon” Lanier, William “Griffin” Lanier and Amelia M. Lanier. She is also survived by sisters Tina M. Cunningham (Carl) of Cuba, MO, Angela C.J. Newsome of Roanoke Rapids, NC and a brother, Joseph D. Newsome of Myrtle Beach, SC. Lynda was pre-deceased by her parents and a sister, Mia G. Hancock.
A service will be conducted at Mt. Zion Church of the Brethren in Luray on Saturday May 14, 2022 at
1 p.m. by Pastor Gary Major and evangelist Doug Gochenour. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Burial will be private at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a random act of kindness be bestowed upon a less fortunate individual or family.
Our family affectingly referred to Lynda as “Dr. Doolittle” since animals were attracted to her calm and comforting demeanor. Our dog, Belle, will surely experience an emptiness without her.
Although all of our prayers were not answered during her brief illness and earthly journey, we find solace knowing she is now in heaven. Lynda will be sorely missed by her family. We are comforted knowing that one day we will be reunited with her.
