Mary Elizabeth Smoot Jenkins, 87, of Luray, died on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2022.
She was born on Aug. 14, 1935, in Washington and was a daughter of the late George Godfrey Smoot and Mary Elizabeth Anderson Smoot.
Mrs. Jenkins worked at the Aileen plant for 30 years.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, her first husband, Norman Milton Jenkins, with whom she was married from 1955-1974; and her second husband, Jack Woodson Jenkins, whom she married on Sept. 20, 1995, and who died on Oct. 8, 2016.
She is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Dodson of Luray, Carole Jenkins of Sperryville, and Cindy Lockridge, also of Luray; two sons, George Jenkins of Staunton, and Norman Jenkins Jr. of Washington; a brother, Alexander Smoot of Front Royal; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Williams Smoot, George Smoot Jr. and Harry Smoot; a sister, Martha Marston; and one grandson.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, at the Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray by Tracy Shifflett.
The Bradley Funeral Home will be open on Friday from 8 a.m. to noon for those who wish to sign the register book.
