Page Valley News highlights adoptable pets
from the Page County Animal Shelter to showcase their personality.
This is Diesel…
Diesel arrived at the shelter as a surrender and is 5 years old. He has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Diesel is a striking King Shepherd with a big voice to match his big presence. He came to the shelter as a surrender, and he makes his feelings very clear — if he doesn’t know you, he will loudly announce it. Beneath that vocal exterior, though, is a dog who’s simply unsure and trying to navigate a world that changed on him.
Diesel tends to be standoffish with unfamiliar people and needs time to decide who he can trust. That said, bring out a squeaky toy or a ball, and you’ll catch a glimpse of his playful side; he absolutely lights up in those moments.
The shelter environment has been hard on Diesel and likely adds to his stress and reactivity. In a calmer home, he may be able to decompress and show more of his personality at his own pace. He would do best as the only pet so he can settle in without additional pressure.
Diesel is looking for an experienced large-breed owner who understands that trust takes time. He’ll need patience, structure, and someone who respects his boundaries while helping him build confidence.
