Age 71, Shenandoah, Va.
Michael Elmer Hensley, 71, of Shenandoah, passed away on Wednesday May 6, 2026 at his residence.
Mr. Hensley was born on August 20, 1954 in Rockingham County and was a son of the late Clarence Elmer and Alda Ruth (Meadows) Hensley.
He worked as a mason for more than 30 years and retired from Nielsen Construction. He later worked for Massanutten in hospitality. Mike enjoyed woodworking and was a talented carpenter. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time outdoors and riding motorcycles.
Mike is survived by his two sons, Christopher Hensley (Tammie), David Hensley (Monica) both of Elkton; a brother, Teddy Hensley of Elkton; a sister, Barbara “Ann” Meadows of Elkton; and two grandchildren, Alayna and Sydney Hensley; special companion, Mimi McCoy; former spouse and longtime friend, Kay Hensley; and a special nephew, Roger “Little Rog” Meadows, Jr.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin “Pete” Hensley; and a special nephew, Aaron Saum.
All services will be held privately and at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you pay it forward and do a good deed for someone else in Mike’s memory.
Arrangements are being handled by the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton, Va.
