Luray High School ‘s Isaiah Mongold contributed to the Bulldogs’ first win of the season on Friday from both the mound and the plate. Luray defeated rival Page County, 6-3, to pickup their first win on the diamond in 2022. According to LHS head coach Charlie Shepard, the last time the Bulldogs beat the Panthers in baseball was in 2019.

Mongold only gave up one earned run during his 4-1/3 innings on the mound against the Panthers’ usually prolific offense. The senior also got things started in the first inning with a single — the first of four consecutive hits that lead to three runs to open the game.

“It feels good for these guys. Everyone has worked their tales off,” Coach Shepard said after the game. “Isaiah pitched a helluva ballgame.”

With the win, the Bulldogs are now 1-10 on the season and will next host Clarke on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
