Dear Editor:
The Town of Stanley has been blessed by having a great public servant, the Town Manager, Terry Pettit.
The disaster you don’t have is the hardest one to prove. Terry has been managing the infrastructure of the Town of Stanley for over 45 years without a disaster. That is not luck, that is great professional management.
Terry serves the Town with professionalism, humility, and grace. His quiet, effective professionalism is an example that many in public service would be wise to aspire to emulate.
It is very easy to point a finger when things go wrong, but it is important to acknowledge when things go well.
Stanley’s water supply has won several “Best Water in Virginia” awards. Winning one state level competition is special, winning several is extraordinary. Part of that success must go to Terry.
At Nighthawks Diner, within the Daughter of the Stars Theater and Cultural Center, we salute Terry with the naming of his favorite sandwich — ham and cheese with mayo on white bread — the “Terry Pettit”.
Nighthawks will be opening in September. At Nighthawks, we are on a journey of food, fun, art, education, entertainment, and respect. Join us in saluting Terry by trying his favorite sandwich or toasting Terry with one of our many beers, wines, or non-alcoholic beverages. Come join us for the experiences!
Patrick Burns, owner of Nighthawks Diner ~ Stanley, Va.
