May 18, 1911 — We have just been informed by Mr. Berrey that with this issue (May 18, 1911) will end the career of The Page Courier, which since the good year 1867 has been a most welcome visitor in hundreds of Page County homes.
This to us (with hundreds of others who have read the dear old Courier for nearly half a century) is sad news indeed. During all these years (up to our removal to Luray, seven years ago) we always made The Courier office our home, always meeting a cordial welcome from one and all.
As for ourself, for nearly 30 years, in our weak way, we have been a contributor to its columns and it is sad to contemplate that whatever else we may do, we shall never again be permitted to pen another line for The Courier. We shall miss it in our homes, and around our firesides.
No more shall we hear from the lips of every member of the entire household the query“has The Courier come?”Inits columns, from week to week, have been recorded the marriages of our sons and our daughters, and the passing away of our loved ones as God in His wisdom has called them home.
Good bye, old friend, goodbye!
