November produces less than an inch of rain

Year-to-date rainfall still 2 inches above average

STANLEY — Total rainfall for the month was 0.97 inch, or 1.93 inches below the November average of 2.90 inches. However, measurable rain was recorded on 11 days during the month. The 57-year average is eight days. The calendar year–to–date rainfall is now 39.38 inches, or 2.02 inches above average.

The wettest November was in 1985, with 7.26 inches of rain. The driest November occurred in 2001, with 0.52 inch of rain recorded.

Valley temperatures for November were slightly above average. The mean temperature for the month was 47.9 degrees, or 1.5 degrees above the 57-year average mean temperature of 46.4 degrees. The average afternoon high temperature for the month was 57.9 degrees, or 1.6 degrees above the average high of 56.3 degrees.

High temperatures for November climbed above the 70-degree mark on one day, the 60s on 15 days, the 50s on nine days, the 40s on four days, and only in the 30s on one day during the month. The high for the month was 75 degrees on Nov. 5.

The warmest November on record was in 2001, where the average afternoon high was 64.2 degrees. The coolest November was in 1995, where the average afternoon high was only 49.5 degrees.

The average daily low temperature for the month was 37.8 degrees, or 1.3 degrees above the 57-year average low of 36.5 degrees. Low temperatures for the month were down into the 20s on four days, the 30s on 12 days, the 40s on 13 days, and in the 50s on one day during the month. The low for the month was 23 degrees on Nov. 29.

The peak wind gust for the month was 39 mph recorded on Nov. 16.

No records were broken during November.
