May 10, 1962 — The Page County Panthers defeated the Turner Ashby Knights in the Southern Division of the District 10, Group II high school baseball league last Friday afternoon, 5-0, at Turner Ashby with Bob Moore turning in a one-hit pitching performance for the winners.
The only hit off Moore who fanned 10 batters during the seven-inning affair, was a single by Early in the first inning.
Van Pelt was the losing pitcher.
The Panthers had six hits with Elwood Housden having a perfect day at bat with three for three including a triple.
Allen Greene also hit a triple for the Panthers.
The victory was the seventh in as many starts this season for Coach Carroll Jay’s Page County team.
