One-hitter by Moore

May 10, 1962The Page County Panthers defeated the Turner Ashby Knights in the Southern Division of the District 10, Group II high school baseball league last Friday afternoon, 5-0, at Turner Ashby with Bob Moore turning in a one-hit pitching performance for the winners.

The only hit off Moore who fanned 10 batters during the seven-inning affair, was a single by Early in the first inning.

Van Pelt was the losing pitcher.

The Panthers had six hits with Elwood Housden having a perfect day at bat with three for three including a triple.

Allen Greene also hit a triple for the Panthers.

The victory was the seventh in as many starts this season for Coach Carroll Jay’s Page County team.
