June 22, 1989 — Over 530 people visited the Luray O’Sullivan plant during its open house Saturday.

Company officials were on hand, and some people were taken along on tours. But most seemed to prefer the opportunity to walk around on their own.

The plant, which turns out 1,224 door panels and 1,224 flocked parts daily for Lincoln Continentals — 300,000 of each a year — will add several flocked parts for the 1990 Lincoln Town car and the rear section behind the back seat for the 1990 General Motors “W” cars, including the Chevy Lumina.

O’Sullivan is also making air conditioner ducts in Luray for some Chrysler “K” cars.

The Luray plant employs about 210 people with three shifts, and began producing parts in February 1988.
