~ PVN staff report
Registration is now open to all Page County students between first and eighth grades for the second season of Page County Lacrosse.
In its inaugural season last year, Page County Lacrosse competed in the Shenandoah Valley Youth Lacrosse League. The League has been growing in Clarke, Frederick and Shenandoah counties over the last 13 years, according to organizer John Lee.
No experience is required to join, and all equipment is provided. In-person registration is being held on the following dates at the following locations:
- Saturday, Feb. 11 — Stanley Extension Office, 12-2 p.m. I
- Wednesday, Feb. 15 — Luray Chamber of Commerce, 5-7 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb. 25 — Luray Chamber of Commerce, 12-2 p.m.
To register online, first register with USA Lacrosse and get a member number. Then register with the Shenandoah Valley Youth Lacrosse League (SVYL), to join the League. Online registration is available at:
• USA Lacrosse — https://membership.usalacrosse.com/login
• Shenandoah Valley Youth Lacrosse — https://svyl.sportngin.com/register/form/703599589
Those who need assistance should attend one of the in-person registration dates listed above.
Registration fees will be $30 for the USA Lacrosse membership, which includes a magazine subscription, discounts and other benefits — and $95 for the SVYL membership. Scholarships are available; inquire with the League for more information.
Twelve players are needed for the Page County group to participate — as a team — in the Shenandoah Valley Youth Lacrosse League. However, if less than 12 come out for the team, Coach Lee plans to still practice in Luray and then join another team for games. Practices will be held twice a week, with games on the weekend.
SVYL will play by the rules of U.S. Field Lacrosse (boys lacrosse rules).
Those interested, may email John Lee at email@example.com
or send a Facebook Message to the Page County Lacrosse page.
