March 12, 1987 — The Page County Board of Supervisors all but dropped out of the regional jail project Monday afternoon.
The supervisors gave no official word on whether they would help build a prison to relieve crowded conditions in the Winchester and Clarke and Frederick county jails.
However, the supervisors gave a strong indication of their sentiments.
County officials have said they are skeptical of the project because Page’s jail is only 17 years old and meets state standards.
