Recycling at Springfield

March 29, 1990 — The ribbon was cut last week and the Page County Board of Supervisors officially opened its recycling and trash compacting collection station at Springfield.

The main items for collection at the site will include plastic items such as gallon milk containers and two liter drink bottles, amber, green and clear glass, newspapers and corrugated cardboard. Recyclable items will be sold to off-set the cost of operating the recycling center.

“The more items recycled, the more trash that will be kept out of our landfill, thus prolonging the life of the landfill,” said District 1 Supervisor Nora Belle Comer. “Recycling will produce a cleaner environment, a savings of our national resources and tax dollars.”
