Retired druggist dies

Luray-Cave Hill

July 6, 1961 — Robert L. McKim, 84, prominent retired druggist of Luray, died Friday morning of last week at the Page Memorial Hospital after an illness of several months. He had been in declining health since an operation last year, but had been able to move about until early spring.

He was born Oct. 4, 1876, the son of Albert W. and Betty Coffman McKim of Page County and after education as a pharmacist at the University of Richmond took a position in his father’s drug store, established by the elder McKim in 1870 on West Main Street.

McKim and Son drug store became a landmark in Luray under the operation of “Bob” McKim.
