June 26, 1986 — A Luray High School athlete suffered severe leg injuries last Wednesday when a horse she was riding at Skyland ran her against a tree.
It was originally believed Sarah Getz, a starter in varsity basketball and softball, suffered a broken femur.
According to her mother, Alyce Getz, she was flow from the resort by Pegasus to the UVa. Medical Center where her injury was diagnosed as an “angulated dislocated patella.”
The patella is the kneecap bone.
