September 27, 1990 — Labeling themselves as everyday, ordinary people, The Friends of the Shenandoah River held an organizational meeting in Page County last week.
The non-profit organization, based in Front Royal, has some 150 members and is dedicated to the preservation of the river and its main tributary, the South Fork.
The group is looking for residents to monitor sites at major tributaries or where there is a great potential for damage or pollution.
