Ruth Deborah Jenkins Veney, 76, of Luray, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Blue Ridge Rehab and Nursing in Harrisonburg.
She was born on December 19, 1949, in Stanley and was a daughter of the late Jesse Sherman Jenkins and Artie Elizabeth Meadows Jenkins.
On December 13, 1965, she married Aubrey Veney, who survives.
In addition to her husband, Ruth is survived by a daughter, Deborah Bennett and husband Gary of Shenandoah; a son, Aubrey Veney Jr. and wife Wendy of Luray; two sisters, Vontella Lam of Stanley, and Frances Reifsnyder of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Antonio Veney, Thomas Crouse, Kelley Crouse, Domique Veney and Aubrey Eugene Veney III; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Juanita Good, Betty Blakley, Naomi Hershey, Margaret Wilkerson and Rachel Cubbage; and four brothers, Paul Jenkins, James Jenkins, Charles Jenkins and Joseph Jenkins.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, at the Luray Pentecostal Church by the Rev. Daniel D. Herring.
Arrangements are being handled by the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
