Stanley Tigers ready for opener

March 23, 1961 — Pitcher Allen “Skippy” Greene and catcher Roger Baker will form the battery for the Stanley High Tigers when the team opens its baseball season on Saturday, April 1, against the Stonewall Jackson High School team at Stanley.

Greene, who made a good showing last season as a starting pitcher for the Tigers, throws and bats right- handed. Hestands 5 feet 9 inches, weighs 144 pounds and is a junior. Baker, Stanley’s regular receiver during the past two seasons and captain of this year’s team, stands 5 feet 11 inches, weighs 160 pounds and throws and bats right- handed. He is a senior at Stanley High.
