Stanley votes to add officer

• February 20, 1986 — Stanley’s Town Council has voted 3-1 to hire an additional full-time police officer in a step toward lessening the workload placed on its two current officers. Mayor Vance Bryant — who supports the decision — said at the monthly council meeting last Thursday that a full-time, state-certified candidate would get higher consideration. Part-time positions were discussed, but according to Bryant, they aren’t always feasible.
