July 2, 1983 — “Behind every successful man is a faithful wife — and a surprised mother-in-law,” so the cliche’ goes. And behind every successful event there is a man, woman or a group of people. The event was Shenandoah’s largest ice cream sundae; the group was the congregation of Shenandoah Assembly of God Church. What started as an idea with the church pastor, turned into reality this past Sunday as about 75 persons helped to consume Shenandoah’s largest ice cream sundae. The 50-foot Super Sundae consisted of two large aluminum-foiled covered gutters full of cups holding approximately eight gallons of vanilla, strawberry and chocolate ice cream.
