March 18, 1887 — Richold, the swindler, whose transactions last fall in Luray with reference to several purchases of old iron, and who, while here obtained money under false pretenses, broke jail in Winchester last Wednesday night by boring his way out of his cell with an augur.
He was soon afterwards recaptured at Shepherdstown.
Richold has been in jail at the former place awaiting trial on charges of stealing hides from the Capon Bridge Tannery.
