Taxi service being restored to Luray

• FEBRUARY 6, 1986 — Taxi service is about to be restored to Page County after a hiatus of some three months. Last Nov. 14, Clarence Sirbaugh of Stanley closed his venerable Sirbaugh’s Taxi, after carting county residents some 2.5 million miles in 39 years of service. Leo Jay Strickler, 27, the proprietor of the Players Choice Arcade on Main Street in Luray, hopes his new Stage Coach Cab Company can help fill the void in county transportation. In the 1930s, Strickler’s grandfather, Leo, operated Arcade Cab Company, one of several taxi outlets in the county. Page County supported about five cab companies until recent years, when the escalating cost of gasoline and insurance forced several operators out of business.

  1. What is the Players Choice Arcade on Main Street? I Googled it and did not come up with anything. Is there really an arcade in town???
