March 24, 1989 — Jerry A. Burner of Luray is the recipient of the 1989 seed stock beef producer of the year, given by the Virginia Beef Industry.
Burner is a pure beef seed stock breeder and along with his father, John A. “Buddy” Burner, operates Trio Farm on U.S. 340 south of Luray.
Burner, 31, is largely responsible for the breeding decisions and management decisions of the purebred Simmental herd, while he and his father make the production and marketing decisions.
The Trio Farm’s operations include 130 beef cows of which 100 are registered Simmentals.
