June 8, 1989 — Brian Sours’ planned trip to China may be a casualty of the current unrest in Beijing.

Sours, 20, son of Eddie and Sandra Sours of Rileyville, is currently on an Asian study tour with several other students from Lynchburg College. The 1987 graduate of Luray High School is now in Korea with the group.

After touring Korea, the students are to go to Hong Kong. However, Sours and the other students may not get to visit China because of the jeopardizing situation in Beijing, according to his mother.

According to a June 5 letter Mrs. Sours received from Dean James F. Traer of Lynchburg College, he and another individual from the university will meet the group in Hong Kong at the end of this week.

“It is possible that China may not be admitting visitors by the time we get there,” the letter read. “If travel is possible, we will consult with the U.S embassy or consulate in Hong Kong about the advisability of entering the country.”
