Two injured at campground brawl

August 6, 1987 — The Page County Sheriff’s Department is continuing investigation into a campground brawl early Sunday morning that involved guns, knives and nunchucks.

Two men, both from the Northern Virginia area, were treated at Page Memorial Hospital and released.

The men were part of a camping group at Stickler’s Campground, south of the Bixler’s Ferry bridge, west of Luray.

About 20 people were involved in the incident but only about 15 people could be questioned.

Some of the campers fled the scene when the violence escalated.
