October 22, 1964 — The public is cordially invited to attend the observance of the 20th anniversary of the organization of VFW Post 621 at the Post Home on Saturday.

A brief program is scheduled for 8 p.m. with Department Commander Vernon Ross Long as guest speaker. Dancing will begin at 9 p.m.

VFW Post 621 was organized Oct. 24, 1944, with the following officers: Commander E.L. Moses, Luray; Jr. Vice Commander Robert L. Sampsell, Luray; Adjutant-Quartermaster W. Henry Huffman, Luray; Post Advocate and Guard Walter N. Broyles, Stanley; Chaplain and Officer of the Day Richard G. Hopper, Luray; and Surgeon R.H. Llewellyn, of Broadway.

In later years the Post purchased the abandoned Carl’s Chapel property east of Luray and converted it into a Post Home where their meetings and other functions are held.
