Volunteers needed Saturday to plant trees along Hawksbill Creek near greenway

LURAY — The Town of Luray and the Virginia Department of Forestry are inviting volunteers to help plant trees along the Hawksbill Creek and the Luray-Hawksbill Greenway to improve water quality through adding to the riparian buffer.

Volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday, April 2, beginning at the Luray-Hawksbill Greenway Park and Ride.

The event will be held rain or shine.

Volunteers are encouraged to dress appropriately, bring drinking water and pack a lunch for a midday break. Tools will be provided.
