Age 87, Stanley, Va.

Wanda Jean Goode Barth, 87, of Stanley, VA, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Wanda built a life centered on love, family, and adventure. She spent 25 years living in Arlington, VA, before moving to Stanley following her retirement. Throughout her career, she worked for Signature Flight Support and Marriott In-Flight Services, bringing her dedication and hardworking nature to everything she did. Her work gave her the opportunity to meet many interesting people, including celebrities and astronauts. Whenever she could, she would bring home signed pictures for her grandchildren. Her colleagues even nicknamed her “Mother Signature,” a testament to the relationships she built over the years.

A woman with an adventurous spirit, Wanda never stopped finding ways to enjoy life. At 70 years young, she went tandem skydiving, proving that age was no obstacle to trying something new. She loved traveling throughout the United States on girls’ trips with her daughters and daughter-in-law, visiting favorite destinations such as Ocean City, Maryland; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Hawaii; and many more. She enjoyed reading, swimming, and making sure she walked five miles a day. She also loved drag racing, cheering on the Washington Commanders, listening to Elvis Presley and Bon Jovi, and getting lost in the pages of David Baldacci novels.

Wanda’s legacy lives on in the generations she loved, the lessons she taught, the adventures she inspired, and the countless memories that will continue to bring smiles for years to come. We’ll all be standing on the porch waving until we see her again.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 31 years, Timothy Barth; her children, Teresa Pitoniak (Phil Pitoniak), Heidi Breeden (David Breeden), and Barry Hinton (Christina Hinton); seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milburn Goode and Gladys Goode, and her brother, Kenneth Goode.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Saturday, October 17, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with a service following at 11:00 a.m. at The Bradley Funeral Home, 187 E. Main St., Luray, VA 22835.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Page County SPCA, P.O. Box 62, Luray, VA 22835.
