Boy Scout leaders recognized

April 24, 1986 — Three Luray Boy Scout leaders were among the adult scouters recognized and honored last week at the annual scouters recognition program at James Wood High School.

Recipients were Edwin Smith, scoutmaster of Luray Boy Scout Troop 7, David Lundblad, Troop 7 assistant scoutmaster, and Dr. W.E. Gilbert.

Smith was awarded a certificate for 45 years of scouting. Smith holds the coveted Scouter’s Silver Beaver Award and is a Vigil Order of the Arrow Brother.

Dr. Gilbert, registered as one of Troop 7’s assistant scoutmasters, received a 35-year certificate having begun his scouting career as a leader at Camp Shenandoah in Augusta County. He holds the Silver Beaver Award, as well as the coveted Wood Badge Degree and is in the Order of the Arrow.

Lundblad, received a 15- year scouting award, and is the father of three boys, who are enrolled in the scouting program.
