Bulldogs, Panthers perform well at Bull Run meet

STRASBURG, May 17 — Luray and Page County combined for 20 Top 5 finishes at the Bull Run District Track Championships held at Strasburg High School on Wednesday.

Luray senior Jaidyn McClung once again excelled in multiple events, finishing first or second in four competitive categories. McClung took the district championship in the girls 100 meter hurdles (:16.31), while finishing as the district runner-up in the 300 meter hurdles (:48.94), the long jump (16-02), and the triple jump (34-10).

Page County senior Jacob Martz claimed the Bull Run title for the boys high jump (6-00), while also finishing as the district runner-up in 110 meter hurdles (:16.04) and as the second-leg of the PCHS 4×400 boys relay team, which also includes Stephon Hawkins, Logan Heiston and Brett Paul Campbell.

Luray sophomore Davey Johnson won the district championship in the boys 1600 meter run (4:46.76) and and finished district runner-up in the boys 3200 meter run (10:25.11).

Luray sophomore Drayvin Stevens finished district runner-up in three events — boys 100 meter dash (:11.83), 400 meter dash (:52.55), and the long jump (19-03).

Page County’s Landry Burns was district runner-up in the shotput (29-09), while fellow Panther Elizabeth Ramos finished as the Bull Run runner-up in the discus (103-05). Luray’s Carolina Wood was the district runner-up in the girls 3200 run (12:39.41).

Overall, Luray finished fourth among the nine district boys teams and sixth among girls, while Page County came in fifth among girls teams and sixth in boys. Strasburg won the girls division as a team, while East Rockingham won the boys side.

  • Carolina Wood, Annah Whitmer, Laney Roy, Lanie Brown, LHS, 4th place, 4×800 meter relay (11:58.96).
  • Lucy Currle, LHS, 4th place, high jump (4-08).
  • Elizabeth Ramos, PCHS, 4th place, shotput (28-03).
  • Landry Burns, PCHS, 4th place, discus (93-06).
  • McKenna Talghadar, LHS, 5th place, 100 meter dash (:14.47).
  • Alyson Shores, LHS, 5th place, 400 meter dash (1:08.81).

BOYS

  • Eli Jones, LHS, 3rd place, 800 meter run (2:06.31).
  • Brett Paul Campbell, PCHS, 3rd place, 110 meter hurdles (:16.77).
  • A.J. Bosely, Logan Heiston, Brayden McKay, Aaron Hensley, PCHS, 3rd place, 4×800 boys relay (9:30.72).
  • Stephon Hawkins, PCHS, 4th place, 100 meter dash (:12.0).
  • Josh Nuckols, LHS, 5th place, 800 meter run (2:09.08).
  • Aaron Hensley, PCHS, 5th place, 1600 meter run (4:53.04).
  • Ace Campbell, PCHS, 5th place, triple jump (37-02.5).

The Region B Track Championships will be held
