Charles Samuel Hilliards Sr., 78, of Stanley, Va. passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022.
He was born on Dec. 9, 1943, in Stanley and was a son of the late Eddie W. Hilliards and Edith Mae Painter Hilliards.
Charles worked for Wampler Foods for 30 years as a bird catcher.
On June 30, 1962, he married Marion Ann Woodward Hilliards, who died on July 17, 1981.
He is survived by a daughter, Tammy S. Kibler and husband Michael Kibler of Shenandoah; son, Carroll “Shorty” Hilliards of Stanley; a brother, Carson Hilliards of Shenandoah; five grandchildren, Ann Marie Kibler and companion Justin Shifflett, Andrew Kibler, Blake Hilliards and companion Amber Lane, Bryce Hilliards and Bree Hilliards; and one great-grandchild, Asher Shifflett.
He was preceded in death by son Charles Sammy Hilliards Jr.; three brothers, Arley, James “Buddy” and Isaac Shirley “Jay Bird” Gene Hilliards; and five sisters, Virginia Freeze, Doris G. Hilliards, June Elizabeth Tappy Hilliards, Ruby Judd and Maudie Elizabeth Tappy.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 14, at the Hilliards Chapel Cemetery in Stanley by the Rev. Terry Cave.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, at the Harvest Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harvest Pentecostal Holiness Church.
