Cory Lee Bird, 36, of Luray, went home to be with the LORD on Thursday June 29, 2023.
Cory was born on November 23, 1986 and was a son of James and Joan (Propst) Bird. He lived most of his life in Harrisonburg, VA until he moved to Luray in 2022 with his wife Christina.
Cory was a dedicated father to his “Little Man” Julian, husband to Christina, beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, step-grandfather, and an amazing friend to so many. He was known for his smile, giving heart, and sense of humor.
Mr. Bird enjoyed fishing, football, playing corn hole, and cooking new things in the kitchen. Cory was a member of Riverton Church in Front Royal. He volunteered his time coaching at a summer sports camp. Wherever Cory went, there was sure to be someone who knew him. He had a loving and giving heart.
On October 29, 2022 he married the love of his life, the former Christina Guerin.
In addition to his wife and parents, Cory is survived by his son, Julian Bird; brother Jonathan and fiancé Victoria; sister, Erica Fulk and husband Chuck; nephew, James Conley; his niece, Tierney Conley and fiancé Austin Evans; along with step children and step-grandchildren.
Cory will be sorely missed, but forever remains in the hearts and minds of all those he encountered. May his sweet soul rest in peace.
Cory was preceded in death by his daughter, Corrina Lee Bird.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday July 8, 2023 at 3 p.m. at the Harrisonburg Chapel of Kyger Funeral Homes with Pastors Marc Roberson and Dan Garber officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cory, here we are pushing a year with you gone and everyday is so difficult to make it through. Especially for sweet Julian. He misses you every second of everyday. He is always looking for signs you are near. This is Julian and I checking in to let you know that while you are gone for now you will never be forgotten. You are missed dearly by so many, if you only knew. We take comfort you are in a better place but the loss is still so painful.
