Democrats voted down getting rid of car tax… Vote Republicans in… Write to your Democrat reps!

Farmers appreciate lawmakers’ commitment to water quality partnership

Dear Editor:

I received this answer from Senator Obenshain’s office.

“As for the car tax, the Senate Republicans backed a car tax relief package, and the Governor has called for the [General Assembly] to do car tax relief due to the surplus currently in VA.  The Senate Democrats voted it all down yesterday in committee [Jan. 28]. Sen. Obenshain supports car tax relief for all Virginians — and will continue to work on this issue moving forward. The car tax is probably the most ‘hated’ tax in the Commonwealth…”

Vote Democrats out of office in Virginia!

  1. Everyone in Virginia views the “car tax” as a burden, especially young adults and seniors. But the car tax is what helps fund our schools. The governor has proposed increasing our local sales tax to offset eliminating the car tax which would be massive to make up the revenue loss to our schools. Now if Youngkin would instead, endorse the retail sale of cannabis, this would be a great solution. Currently, Virginians travel to Maryland and D.C. to purchase weed and edibles, which greatly increases the revenue of those jurisdictions. Wouldn’t it be great if we could keep this revenue in Virginia and use it to replace the car tax?
