Grand jury issues 34 indictments in April session, including child abuse and assaulting an officer

LURAY — A Page County grand jury handed down 34 indictments among 16 individuals during its April 6 session in Page County Circuit Court.

Among those indictments, a felony charge filed against former Page County finance director Dennis Lee Click Jr. was reported last week.

Others indicted during the April 6 grand jury session include:

Samuel Ray Louk, of Broadway, Va., was indicted on a total of five felonies and one misdemeanor, all resulting from events on Jan. 16, 2020, according to court records. Louk was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug, and three Class 6 felonies for the assault of a law enforcement officer, possession of a gun while in possession of a Schedule I/II drug, and eluding or disregarding police. He was also indicted on an unclassified felony for non-violent felony gun possession (within 10 years of committing a non-violent felony), and a Class 1 misdemeanor for destruction of property with intent (valued at less than $1,000). All charges, except the misdemeanor, show an arrest date of March 27, 2020, according to court records. Louk is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4 for further proceedings.

Chad David Parsell, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug, an unclassified felony for violent felony possession or transport of a weapon, and two Class 1 misdemeanors for pettit larceny (less than $1,000 – not from person) and tampering with a vehicle. The two felonies occurred on July 20, 2021, according to court records, with an arrest date of the same. The two misdemeanors occurred on July 16, 2021, according to court records, with an arrest date of July 20, 2021. Parsell is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8 for further proceedings.

Lindsey Brianne Sours, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug, and a Class 6 felony for possession of a gun (on person) while in possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Sours also received two direct indictments on two Class 1 misdemeanors for receiving or buying stolen goods (valued at less than $200) and carrying a concealed weapon. All charges stem from incidents on May 27, 2020, according to court records, with an arrest date of Sept. 2, 2021. Sours is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25 for further proceedings.

Tiffany Ann Bonnell, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 6 felony for child abuse/disregard for life and received a direct indictment on a Class 1 misdemeanor for driving while intoxicated (DWI – first offense). Both offenses and an arrest occurred on Nov. 8, 2021, according to court records. Bonnell is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 .m. on Wednesday, April 13 for further proceedings.

Casey Abraham Stokes, of Cumberland, Md., was indicted on an unclassified felony for entering a house to commit assault and battery and received a direct indictment on a Class 6 felony for destruction of property with intent (valued at greater than or equal to $1,000). Both offenses and an arrest occurred on Jan. 14, 2022, according to court records. Stokes is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4 for further proceedings.

Melvin Junior McCauley, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug and received a direct indictment on a Class 1 misdemeanor for driving with a revoked or suspended license. Both offenses occurred on Sept. 9, 2021, according to court records, with an arrest date of Jan. 4, 2022. McCauley is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27 for further proceedings.

• Shawn Edward Davis, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug and received a direct indictment on a Class 1 misdemeanor for driving with a revoked or suspended license (second offense). The offenses and an arrest occurred on Jan. 30, 2022, according to court records. Davis is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27 for further proceedings.

• Angelia Lee Ludwig, of Broadway, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for the possession of a Schedule I/II drug and a Class 6 felony for the possession of a gun (on person) while in possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Both offenses and an arrest occurred on Aug. 7, 2021, according to court records. Ludwig is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13 for further proceedings.

• James Clifton Strawderman, of Edinburg, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug and a Class 1 misdemeanor for obstruction of justice/resisting without force. The offenses and an arrest occurred on Aug. 7, 2021, according to court records. Strawderman is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 4 for further proceedings.

• Donna Jane Creel, of Luray, Va., was indicted on two Class 5 felonies for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. Both offenses occurred on Dec. 14, 2020, according to court records, with an arrest date of Sept. 8, 2021. Creel is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13 for further proceedings.

• Thomas John Shipman III, of Shenandoah, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on Dec. 8, 2021, according to court records. Shipman is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27 for further proceedings.

• Ashley Nicole Rogers, of Stanley, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on Oct. 27, 2021, according to court records, with an arrest date of Dec. 31, 2021. Rogers is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18 for further proceedings.

• Stefanie Raynes Atkins, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense occurred on April 29, 2021, according to court records, with an arrest date of Dec. 22, 2021. Atkins is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27 for further proceedings.

• Robert John Beaty, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 5 felony for possession of a Schedule I/II drug. The offense and an arrest occurred on Oct. 6, 2021, according to court records. Beaty is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13 for further proceedings.

• Laura Diana Presgraves, of Luray, Va., was indicted on a Class 6 felony for assault on a law enforcement officer. The offense occurred on Sept. 7, 2021, according to court documents, with an arrest date of Sept. 17, 2021. Presgraves is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20 for a one-day jury trial.

Grand jury hearings are held the first Wednesday of each month in Page County Circuit Court.
