LURAY, Sept. 7 — Page County’s Summer Kite crossed the finish line first in the girls division of the cross country tri-meet hosted by Luray High School on Wednesday. The junior posted a time of 22:44.27.
Two Bulldogs finished right behind Kite — the dynamic freshman duo of Carolina Wood and Briana Plum, who finished second (23:09.22) and third (23:54.33), respectively.
The next six places in the girls division — 4th through 9th place — were won by Chelsea Academy, which gave them the overall team win in a race that featured 14 runners.
The LHS boys cross country team claimed top honors at the tri-meet, as sophomore Davey Johnson took second place in the boys division with a time of 18:24.07, and junior Eli Jones came in third at 19:27.51.
Bryson Barnett of Chelsea Academy won the boys division with a time of 17:08.57.
Rounding out the Top 10 among local boys finishers were:
- 5th — Trenton Eppard, PCHS (19:54.38)
- 6th — Sean Cave, PCHS (20:10.84)
- 7th — Conner Janney, LHS (20:12.41)
- 8th — Aaron Hensley, PCHS (20:16.64)
The Page County boys cross country team finished second in the tri-meet.
There were a total of 33 runners in the boys division.
