LURAY, Jan. 10 — On Saturday, Luray High School Athletic Director Don Ehlers announced that “the varsity boys basketball team will not be able to play next week due to COVID protocols.”

The Bulldogs were scheduled to host Central of Woodstock tonight, travel to Strasburg on Wednesday and travel to Page on Friday. All of those games have been rescheduled:

• Tonight’s home game against Central will now be played (both JV and varsity) beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 7;

• Wednesday’s game at Strasburg will now be played (JV and varsity) beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31;

• Friday’s game at Page County will now be played (JV and varsity) beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2.

The JV boys basketball team will host Page County in a double-header (with girls JV teams) this Thursday, Jan. 13. That means the Luray and Page JV boys teams will play three times to “help fill out the schedule” — 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13 at home; 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2 at Page; 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10 at Page.

Due to the cancellation of the boys varsity game on Friday at PCHS, the girls varsity matchup between Luray and Page County will tip-off at 6:30 p.m.

The Luray boys are currently 2-6 on the season after a dominating 83-54 win over Mt. View last Wednesday, Jan. 5. Friday night’s game against Turner Ashby was canceled due to weather.

The Bulldogs should get back to action when they host Rappahannock County on Tuesday, Jan. 18.
