Little League starts with a pitch from ‘Hap’

Hap Heiser
Hap Heiser served as a local sports writer for nearly a half century in Page County.

May 27, 1965 — Luray Little League officially opened Saturday of last week as Hap Heiser threw out the first ball.

Heiser, PN&C sports editor, was chosen for this honor because of the fact that he has been a local sports reporter for more than 40 years. He started playing ball around 1918 and has played on many Luray ball teams during the succeeding years. He has always been deeply interested in all sports and especially the Little League.

Heiser was introduced to the crowd present Saturday by Little League President James T. Logan and received a big hand for which he is mighty proud.
