Loran ‘Simp’ Eugene Dinges

On July 7, 2021, Loran Eugene “Simp” Dinges, 79, passed away at his home in Luray.

He was born on Feb. 7, 1942, and was a son of the late Dolly Getz and stepson of the late Everett Getz. He was born and raised in Stanley.

Loran was well-known for his truck-pulling skills and was a member of the Old Dominion Truck and Tractor Pulling Association. He participated in those events locally and across the United States, with the National Truck and Tractor Pulling Association. He pulled several different trucks through the years, including The Virginia General and the Virginian (formerly known as Small Change). He had also operated the High Performance Shop in Warrenton and was an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Hively-Dinges; two stepsons, Joey Comer of Catlett, and James Comer of Warrenton; two sisters, Judy Cubbage (Frankie) of Stanley, and Terri Sue Soloman (Ron) of Charlottesville; and a brother, Randy Getz (Trudy) of Stanley.

Per his request, there will be no services.

The family was assisted by the Bradley Funeral Home.
