The Page County Farmer’s Association has cancelled its spring membership meeting that was previously scheduled for Thursday, March 26.
The announcement was made in an email sent out to members on Friday, March 13.
“In the best interest of all and in consideration of the President declaring a National Emergency and the Governor of Virginia closing all schools for two weeks, the membership meeting scheduled for March 26 has been cancelled,” the email reads.
The membership meeting was planned for the Stanley Fire Hall with catering provided by the Stanley Fire Department Auxiliary. No make-up date has been set for the event.
However, the March 13 email sent to members did state that: “We have set the date for the membership picnic, which will be held on Sunday, August 2.”
The membership picnic is a separate event from the annual picnic. The association also holds a fall membership meeting.
In a newsletter promoting the spring membership meeting, the farmer’s association reminded all members that: “If you have not yet paid your dues, please make your check payable to ‘Page County Farmers Association’ ($30 single or $50 joint with spouse).”
